Theming

A theme (or a “skin”) is a set of styles and colors applied to Drupal that make it look a certain way. Theming is the process of applying a certain design or style to a website.

If your website were a person, the theme would be its clothes.

Sketching a shirt on paper is like graphic design. It looks great, but it’s not useful to anyone yet. You can’t wear it. I need to measure, cut and sew the fabric in order to create the shirt that you can wear. In website terms, theming is the process of creating HTML and CSS code that makes a website look the way it looks in my drawing.

Theming is the bridge between graphic design and a functional website.
